Advancing surgical excellence in the Middle East

We are truly excited to share that we successfully hosted the second Advanced principles course in gynecology on November 9 – 10, 2024, in the beautiful cities of Dubai and Sharjah. It was an enriching experience for everyone involved, and we are grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow together. The two-day course brought together an international faculty and a diverse group of participants dedicated to the fields of operative gynecology and gynecological oncology.

The first day of the course featured a series of high-level lectures delivered by an experienced international faculty. Topics included the technical basics of vessel sealing, innovations in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and updates on oncologic procedures such as laparoscopic hysterectomy, myomectomy, and lymphadenectomy. Faculty members shared insights from their respective surgical centers, emphasizing evidence-based approaches, complication management, and the integration of advanced energy-based devices into daily practice.

Several case-based discussions and video sessions allowed participants to explore real-world challenges and solutions in surgical gynecology. The interactive format encouraged exchange between faculty and participants, creating a dynamic learning environment.

From Theory to practice: Hands-on training in the wet lab. On the second day, focus shifted to hands-on training in a fully equipped wet lab setting in Sharjah. Working with animal models, participants had the opportunity to practice vessel sealing techniques under close guidance from the expert faculty. The structured format, with small groups at each station, ensured that each participant received individual attention and feedback.

The wet lab sessions were particularly well received, offering a rare chance to simulate real surgical scenarios in a controlled, high-fidelity environment. From basic tissue handling to precise energy application, the hands-on component allowed participants to apply concepts from the previous day’s lectures immediately.

In addition to the formal teaching elements, the course fostered open discussion and professional networking. Structured group discussions throughout the program gave participants space to reflect on their experiences, ask critical questions, and exchange perspectives with peers and faculty.

An official certificate ceremony marked the end of the program, with participants expressing strong appreciation for the course’s clarity, technical depth, and practical orientation. A course dinner on the first evening provided further opportunity for informal exchange in a collegial setting.

The success of the Second Advanced Principles Course in Dubai highlights ESEG’s ongoing role in shaping surgical education worldwide. With its blend of theory, practice, and international collaboration, the course set a high standard for future programs in gynecologic surgery and electrosurgery.

ESEG will continue to expand its global outreach in 2025, offering similar high-quality educational events across Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East.
