10th Malaysia Obstetrics and Gynaecology Complications Workshop

The 10th Malaysia Obstetrics and Gynaecology Complications Workshop successfully took place on 19–20 September 2026 at the Advanced Surgical Skill Centre, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM, bringing together 14 participants for an intensive programme focused on the management of complex surgical complications in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Designed as a highly practical educational event, the workshop combined expert lectures, wet-lab practicals and hands-on surgical training to provide participants with valuable knowledge and real-world surgical experience. The programme focused on the prevention, management and repair of challenging complications, helping surgeons further develop their technical skills and confidence in the operating room.

Participants took part in hands-on sessions covering the management and repair of bowel, bladder, ureteric and vascular injuries, as well as Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries (OASIS). Additional practical training included bowel anastomosis, pelvic side-wall dissection, ureteric implantation procedures and abdominal wall closure techniques.

A particular highlight of the workshop was the Live Animal Surgery Hands-on Session, which enabled participants to apply and refine their surgical techniques in a realistic training environment under expert guidance.

The workshop featured a distinguished multidisciplinary faculty comprising consultants and specialists from obstetrics and gynaecology, urology, colorectal surgery, vascular surgery and oncology. Their expertise provided participants with comprehensive insights into the management of complex surgical cases across multiple specialties.

We were proud to participate as a sponsor of this important educational initiative, supporting continued professional development and hands-on surgical training for healthcare professionals in Malaysia.
