Take your journey into gynecology to the next level.

Welcome to the ESEG advanced principles course in ovarian cancer surgery!

Join us for a learning journey into gynecologic oncology with our ESEG advanced principles course! Over two enriching days, you'll delve into the latest advancements and techniques in the field, guided by esteemed experts and faculty members. Clinical users in operative gynecologic oncology will benefit from the event.

The first day begins with a welcome address, setting the tone for a focused and collaborative learning experience. We proceed with a comprehensive assessment of the disease burden in advanced ovarian cancer, followed by discussions on surgical timing in primary versus interval cytoreduction.

The anatomical and procedural sessions begin with an overview of the peritoneum and its spaces, followed by a discussion of parietal peritonectomy. We resume with visceral peritonectomy and a detailed exploration of the anatomy of the liver and liver mobilization and the anatomy of porta and porta dissection. The following sessions focus on specific surgical interventions such as anterior resection in carcinoma ovary, splenectomy, and distal pancreatectomy.

Afternoon sessions include cardiophrenic node dissection and a key topic, HIPEC in ovarian cancer, followed by perioperative management in CRS +/- HIPEC – optimizing outcomes. We then address postoperative complications in CRS +/- HIPEC and their management and hear insights from the Indian consensus on cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC in advanced ovarian cancer.
Product introductions for the hands-on sessions will conclude the day, followed by a round-table discussion.

On the second day, participants will receive an introduction to anatomy before engaging in a hands-on wet-lab workshop. In small groups, they will practice with advanced bipolar vessel sealing systems, enhancing their technical skills in a realistic surgical setting. The course concludes with a summary discussion, certificate handover, and a final networking opportunity over lunch.

This course offers surgeons a unique opportunity to refine their expertise under the guidance of leading specialists while exchanging knowledge on the latest advancements in ovarian cancer surgery.

Aims of the course:

  • Provide hands-on training with human models to enhance practical skills and procedural techniques.
  • Conduct small group lectures to facilitate interactive learning and in-depth understanding.
  • Encourage group discussions to promote knowledge exchange and critical thinking.
  • CME credit points applied
